I follow everyone’s gaze to an elevated platform at the front of the room. JT McDrew appears with a little person, both of them naked and oiled up to a shiny bronze. JT takes a microphone from a stand.

“That’s some good fuckin, y’all. Y’all keep it up,” he exclaims.

The crowd cheers.

“I know a lot of y’all were lookin’ forward to fuckin me or getting fucked by me, like we’ve done time enough before, but this time here, Jimmy and me,” he motions to the diminutive man beside him, “are in love. We just met last stop up in Susquehanna, and him and I are gonna be together all night, and who knows, maybe forever. I didn’t know I was gonna be so into fuckin’ a midget so much, but let me tell you, even with the drugs, and the drink, and the no shame, well, this little feller hits all the right spots and makes it even better.”

Jimmy taps him on the side, and JT kneels down. They confer quietly for a moment. We see JT mouth the word, “Really?” then nod and say, “OK, pardner.” Then he pats Jimmy on the shoulder, stands up, and takes the microphone again.

“Y’all, Jimmy says that they prefer to be called ‘little people.’ I didn’t know that. I apologize. It would make Jimmy and me feel a lot better if everyone would refer to him as a little person and never say that other word again. Can y’all do that for me?”

Everyone cheers.

“Thanks. It means a lot to me for people to be respectful of one another, and I’ve got the best damn fans on earth. Woohoo!”

Everyone cheers. Then they begin to chant:

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person

Little Person!

“Y’all are beautiful, and I want you to be happy, and loved, and accepted. It wasn’t easy growing up being me . A lot of y’all remember my first single, “I’m Just a Country Boy.”

Everyone cheers.

“My mom and dad didn’t come to the award ceremony. They wouldn’t acknowledge me. So now y’all’re my family, and Jimmy is going to be part of it too. A big part!”

Everyone cheers. The chant starts again.
